Google Alerts. Use the power of Google search to deliver news on any topic to your email. You can set the service to e-mail you with daily or weekly updates on key words you supply.
PR Newswire. Like Google, PR Newswire serves up regular press releases to your in-box on key words you choose.
Wikipedia. Research anything about anything. But be sure to check the citations for accuracy.
AP Stylebook. The online home of the AP style guidebook.
Copy Editor. Dictionares, style guides, and other writing references.
News University. Offers cheap (sometimes free) training and tutorials for journalists.
The Institute for Interactive Journalism (J-Lab). A site dedicated to computer technology in media.

World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This is where it all starts: 3WC is the group that sets the standards for HTML. The web site features tutorials, lessons, cheatsheets, and a host of other resources for well-formed web design.
Google's rules for web sites. If you want Search Engine Optimization, the best place to look is the web's most popular search engine and its tips for good web design.
Webmonkey. Tools for web sites, including cheatsheets, color charts, articles, and other resources.
HTMLite. Tutorials and how-to's for web designers.
Media College. A site dedicated to rich digital media, including audio, video, web, and other applications.
CSS Zen Garden. A showcase of beautifully designed web sites based on CSS.
A List Apart. Articles and how-to's on the finer points of web design.
Dynamic Drive. A great resource for Dynamic HTML effects and applications.
GIMP. Free graphics software designed under the GNU open source license. It's not quite Photoshop, but you can't beat the price (or lack thereof).
